Farmer avails advanced farming techniques through Reliance Foundation's guidance
Dinesh Sharma, a middle-class simple farmer hailing from Adilpur village of Bahraich district, felt much elated when he earned extra income from his agricultural harvest with the guidance of Reliance Foundation.
Agriculture is the main occupation of Dinesh who primarily sows crops of wheat, sugarcane, rice, corn and mustard for earning his livelihood. As a farmer, he faced various issues causing him to invest more and receive fewer yields. His land was sandy so it was a tough task to gain more yields from such land. He needed a competent expert who could bail him out of such agricultural issues.
This year Dinesh had sown paddy crop in his 3 acres of land and just like previous years, paddy leaves started turning yellow and pale after around 40 days. Every year, he used to bear a loss of approximately 6 to 8 quintals of paddy per acre of land. This harvest could yield him a total of 40-45 quintals in his 3 acres land if he could get proper guidance to save his crops in time. This lack of support eventually caused him loss every year and could not even earn enough to save his total investments leave aside any profit. During this period, an audio conference program was organized by Reliance Foundation on 21st September 2019 in his village. He also participated in that program and told Agriculture Expert Mr. Praveen Baranwal about problems of leaves decaying and turning pale in sandy land. He sprayed 50 gm per Tank solution of Intracol in Paddy crops across whole land area ads advised by the expert. This spray started improving condition of paddy crop in just 3 to 4 days and gradually paddy crops revived in healthy condition. This year, the total harvest turned out to be 60 quintals of paddy in his land of 3 acres which was almost double when compared to previous years. He sold Paddy at rupees 1500 per quintal earning a total income of 90000 rupees. He earned an extra 52500 rupees
