Sichuan Province in China is known for its magnificent mountains and plateaus, the beautiful cities like Chengdu and many other amazing tourist destinations. Like every other place, there is also a best time to visit Sichuan which we will be discussing here in this blog. The province experiences different seasons and is divided into three parts – Southern Part, Eastern Part and Western Part. However, to learn about the weather and climate of Sichuan, you first need to know about its topography and geography.

Sichuan stretched across Hengdun Mountains, Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, Qin-Ba Mountains, Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau and Sichuan Basin that makes it higher on the east and lower on the west. During the active and blooming season of spring

The spring season in Sichuan Basin starts towards the end of February or early March whereas in West Sichuan it is late towards the middle or end of March. Spring brings in new life for flowers and plants; you can allure the beauty of the province by planning a trip to Chengdu and its surrounding areas like Mount Emei, Leshan and Danba.

Spring is the mating season of the lovely giant pandas and they can be seen actively playing outdoors – eating and fighting with each other. The male pandas do this to attract the female pandas. It is suggested to reach there by 8:00am in the morning to be able to see the pandas playing outdoors and eating.

Visit Mount Emei

To enjoy the alluring blossom of azaleas blanketing the Emei Mountain, you should visit Shaluoping situated close to Leidongping during April and May. If your plans are towards the end of May to June, you can go to Wanfoding to enjoy those blossoms.

Go for the Junchuan Pear Flower Festival

The pear flowers blossom in the huge valley of Aba’s Jianchuan County from mid-March to early April. During this period, you can plan a trip to Jiaju Tibetan Village in the Danba County to enjoy the amazing pear flowers.

Escape from the summer heat and crowds

Sichuan Province is very hot during summers, no matters it’s West Sichuan Plateau or Sichuan Basin. If you want to get away from the heat to a cool place in Sichuan, Shunan Bamboo Forest and Mount Qingcheng are good options.

Visit Mount Qingcheng

Layered with lush evergreen forest throughout the year, this is a one of the most tranquil mountains in the country. You can go to any of the sides of the mountain – front or back. Tourists prefer the front mountain more for the several Taoist temples and caves.

Explore the Shunan Bamboo Forest

Shunan Bamboo Forest is reputed as China’s largest bamboo forest sprawling on an area of 120sq.kms. It is also referred as ‘Natural Oxygen Bar’ with a limpid lake, bamboos, rolling path, waterfalls and streams. The young bamboos are green during summers keeping the place cool.

See the red and golden world of autumn

As soon as September starts, Sichuan turns into a golden landscape with red and yellow leaves. Places to visit during autumn in Sichuan include Huanglong Valley, Jiuzhaigou Valley, Daocheng Yading Scenic Area and Miyaluo Scenic Resort

People say this place can be visited throughout the year but if you want to stay in a pleasant and comfortable weather, nothing is better than autumn.
